We Choose Peace & A Beautiful Life. We choose this vibrant thriving jewel of a planet right here and now. In the vast deadness of space, we have the most incredible treasure, and the treasure is life… vivid in diversity and magically interwoven habitats, cultures, and possibilities. It’s up to us to carry on. Here’s a snippet of a new song, remixed by my friend Swoop. I thought it made sense to share it today. It’s been a tough day for the world. ❤️
We Can! ❤️ I believe in us ✨ there’s still a chance.
The new book by Paul Hawken titled “Regeneration” quotes the lead author of the sixth assessment of the intergovernmental panel on climate change in 2020. He said “it is our best understanding that, if we bring carbon dioxide emissions down to net zero, the warming will level off. The climate will stabilize within a decade or two. There will be little to no additional warming”
For decades it was assumed that if we were able to stop our carbon emissions, the momentum of warming would continue for centuries. That was mistaken. Climate science now indicates that global warming would begin to recede after we achieve zero carbon emissions.
We have a chance.
As Hawken writes “ the climate crisis is not a science problem. It is a human problem. The ultimate power to change the world does not reside in technologies. It relies on reverence, respect, and compassion for ourselves, for all people and for all life. This is regeneration.”
lyrics
They took the sands and built up castles
So many fires, and wheels that rolled
But its all I know,
Where have we got to go but home?
Oh it’s all I know
Where have we got to go but home?
Oceans were wild, so many colors
3 million whales that might have roamed,
Now it’s almost gone.
And where have we got to go but home?
Life is precious
Life is beautiful
Life is what we have
Space is deadness,
We’re alive here,
We’ll do what we can
There was a game without an ending,
They let the winners starve the poor.
They fracked for oil and kept defending,
They poisoned water, and funded war.
Oh it’s all I know
And where have we got to go but home?
Where have we got to go but home?
We cannot count on them to mend it,
They only knew to tear it down.
They dropped their cards and stopped pretending
It’s up to us to carry on.
Life is precious
Life is beautiful
Life is what we have
Just hold on now
We’re alive here,
We’ll do what we can
We Can
We Can
We Can
